- A man can be a son, brother, nephew, husband, father, grandfather ……
- People say that the Inuits have more than two hundred words for snow, but what they actually have are two hundred words describing the quality and condition of the snow – its soul. Why then are people confused when referring to the Supreme Soul by different name.
- Greeks, Romans and Ottomans used to have different names depending on their direction and season.
- A student asked the above question of his teacher. The teacher said he would answer it fully the next day. The class was very excited the next day and were eagerly awaiting their teacher. He came into the classroom carrying an ice box from which he proceeded to take out different types of ice trays.
He then proceeded to empty the contents of the different ice trays onto his desk. There was all sort of shape’s and sizes. He then asked the children to name some of the shapes. Some said Cube, some said Star, some said Circle, and some said Sphere. The teacher then explained – Even though they look different, and you call them by different names like Cube, Circle, Sphere and Star, they are really all the same. They are all made from water. The same water becomes frozen into different shapes. In the same way, the same God is called by different names by different people depending on what attributes of God they are looking at – God Vishnu, God Shiva or God as the Mother Goddess.
